Woah! Welcome!
I’m Ryan Rappaport (he/him/his) and I’m an theatre maker, actor, and dramaturg currently residing in Boston, MA.
As a theatre maker, I’m dedicated to enhancing the connection between audience and art through critical contextualization and engagement with the text on a deeper level. After a full year as the Connectivity Fellow at Central Square Theatre in Cambridge, MA, I recently became Connectivity Supervisor. In this position, I work to connect scholars and community leaders to the audiences that come to see each show.
The Backstory
I graduated in 2021 from Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) with a BFA in Musical Theatre. In 2018, I was nominated for an LMDA/KCACTF Dramaturgy Award for my dramaturgical work on WCSU’s 2018 production of Uncle Vanya.
Bridging the gap between dramaturg and director, I helped bring to life new theatrical productions such as Dognap on Dekalb by Benjamin Colón (Assistant Director and head production dramaturg) and Night 3 by John Nordt (production dramaturg). Additionally, I have performed script consults for new playwrights, helping to tighten their works and make them active and performable.
As an actor, I have appeared in productions such as South Pacific (Ensemble/McCaffery) at Reagle Music Theater, Cinderella (Jean-Michel) and Sweeney Todd at Company Theater, and A Super Happy Story (About Feeling Super Sad) at Central Square Theater.
Select undergraduate appearances include: Peter and the Starcatcher (Prentiss), Crazy For You (Pete/Bela Zangler u/s), The Who’s Tommy (Specialist), and Radium Girls: A Jaw-Dropping New Musical (Edwin Leman).
Since graduating, I have focused on dramaturgy and playwriting. I have a passion for reading and writing; my diverse reading interests help me understand lives that are not my own so I can bring them to life on the stage or on paper.
When not at my desk, I can be found at local coffee shops, libraries, or at home playing whatever is the latest video game.
